Prof. K. N. Neelakantan Elayath

I am a scholar of Sanskrit and Indian philosophy, with a research focus spanning Advaita Vedānta, classical Indian philosophy, modern Western philosophy in dialogue with Indian thought, Sanskrit poetics, and cultural studies. I served as Director of the Adyar Library and Research Centre, Chennai (2009–2014), following a long tenure as Professor and later Emeritus Professor of Sanskrit at the University of Calicut.

I hold a Ph.D. (1975) from the University of Kerala and an M.A. in Sanskrit (1966) from the University of Madras. Over the course of my career I have supervised eleven doctoral theses on topics ranging from Kālidāsa and the Mahābhārata to Advaita Vedānta and Sanskrit literary criticism.
